| TRANSITION
PERIOD ANNOUNCED BY CANADA POST
FOR ADDRESSED ADMAIL CUSTOMERS |
| With
the introduction of the new Addressed Admail
definition on March 1/99 some customers may
switch from: -
Addressed admail to Publications mail
- Addressed admail to lettermail
- Lettermail to addressed admail
90-day
grace period:
After
March 1, customers have a 90-day grace period
from the first date of induction to convert
to a new product offering. During this period,
mailings will still be accepted as Addressed
Admail.
To accommodate infrequent mailers, this transition
period will last for six months and will end
on August 2 1, 1999. Customers who mail during
this period (from March 1 up to and including
August 31) are entitled to the 90-day grace
period.
Example:
If a customer deposit a mailing on August
31 as the wrong product, the customer is entitled
to the 90-day grace period and must convert
to the appropriate product by the end of this
term.
Pricing
transition period:
Addressed
admail customers who must migrate to Publications
Mail or Lettermail because of the Addressed
Admail definition changes may be eligible
for relief. A pricing transition period has
been introduced and will continue until April
16, 2000.
Special
Notes:
If
you utilize Canadian Business reply services
please insure you follow the appropriate instructions,
the measurements are correct and you get a
sign off prior to going to print.
When
you run Letter Carrier Pre-Sort, insure your
lettershop provides you a sign off on the
addressing format. Now that Canada Post does
no have an affordable NDG pre-sort if you
miss this information and cannot qualify for
LCP, the cost impact is very high going to
straight NDG basic from LCP. Frontier is available
to assist you and your lettershop with this
sign off to insure Canada Post specifications
are followed.
Canada
Post has proposed the changes for April 2000.
We will provide details in further correspondence.
Ontario
Provincial Sales Tax:
As
of June 1, 1999 the 8% Ontario provincial
Sales Tax will apply to goods shipped from
outside Canada directly to an individual in
Ontario for non-commercial, non-institutional
use. This is the result of an agreement between
both the Federal and Ontario Governments,
and is the first time Ontario tax has been
applied in this maner.
Goods
exempt from tax:
-Books
-Footwear valued under $30.00 Cdn.
-Children's clothes
We
will keep you advised as more details become
available. |
