News_12042009HST:
As of July 1, 2010, Revenue Canada in conjunction with both British Columbia and the Province of Ontario will be implementing the new HST. This is a harmonized tax of 13%.
Any customers that are currently registered with Revenue Canada for GST will now fall under the HST guidelines. Our current charge of GST at 5% that is totally refundable through your input tax credit, will now become 13% HST. This is still fully refundable.
Commercial imports will remain at 5% GST.
Any customers that pay PST at 8% will continue to be self assessed.
Address Accuracy changes proposed:
Canada Post is striving to improve deliverability. They have determined many issues regarding the current SERP software recognizing address blocks as acceptable, but nor including apartment #'s when apartment buildings are within the block.
The new SERP software, as of January 17, 2011 will recognize apartment addresses and will fail any addresses that do not include proper apartment identification. Based on this, this will affect your percentage qualification as of January, 2011.
Canada Post will be providing a 6 month clean up time and will not access a surcharge on failed accuracy because of apartments up until July 2011. As of July 2011, if apartment buildings are not properly addressed and your accuracy is below the required 95%, you will be assessed the standard surcharge for a poor accuracy level.
